The lecture began by splitting the room into two, giving one side the Arts, and the other side the Science. Both sides had to write down everything they thought of to do with that topic. A representative from each side then went up to the front of the lecture hall and wrote down everything that their side had suggested.
Some of the suggestions were ...
Science Arts
Chemistry Portraits
Biology Paint
Physics Human Behaviour
Space Creative Art
Solar system Fine Art
Chemicals History
Many people agreed that science is what created our world but also said that to understand science, art is needed. Art is needed to stimulate certain parts of the mind that develop our imagination and creativity. Science is then what gives us the framework in order for logical reasoning and critically thinking. Both are needed and are equally important.
The Importance of Science in Schools.
Science is important as it offers individuals access to a wealth of knowledge and information that contributes to their understanding of how and why things work the way they do. It is an interesting and quite inspiring way of life allowing people to provide visible proof of many facts that we have read or heard about in books or from being perceived from the media.
The Importance of The Arts in Schools.
The arts are all languages in which people speak. They discuss racial, social, educational, cultural and economic barriers allowing us to enhance our cultural appreciation and awareness of this. Independence and collaboration is also developed through this means. Academic achievement such as attitudes, social skills, critical and creative thinking and enhancing test scores are all improved.
